Birkenhead Primary School Library

Birkenhead Primary is in the heart of Birkenhead’s Highbury Village, located in the scenic suburb of North Shore, Auckland.

Their school has the vision to “grow active learners who make a positive difference”. Providing a great learning environment, with their wonderful teachers, and a range of opportunities for children to participate, to contribute, to take responsibility and to challenge themselves.

We worked with Birkenhead to reimagine their library as a vibrant learning hub, balancing playfulness with purpose. Incorporating low-level book stations and display shelving make every title accessible, while cosy reading dens provide intimate break-out spaces. A central activity table anchors the room, encouraging collaboration and storytelling. Soft curves, warm tones, and tactile surfaces support student well-being, creating a library that’s as engaging and energetic as it is welcoming and restful.
