Built for learning. Built to last.
At LSG, we believe furniture designed for learning should be made to stand the test of time.
That’s why we back our furniture with our LSG Lifetime Furniture Warranty.
Subject to the terms below, LSG warrants that our furniture products will be free from defects in materials, manufacturing and workmanship for the expected useful life of the original product.
This warranty is in addition to, and does not limit, any rights or remedies you may have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any other applicable law.
1. What our Lifetime Warranty covers
The LSG Lifetime Furniture Warranty applies to furniture products manufactured and sold by LSG within New Zealand.
Where an LSG furniture product develops a defect in materials, manufacturing or workmanship during its expected useful life, and the product has been used in accordance with its intended purpose and the requirements of this warranty, LSG will, at its discretion:
- Repair the affected product or component;
- Replace the affected product or component with the same or an equivalent product; or
- Provide another appropriate remedy.
Where a particular product or component is no longer manufactured or available, LSG may provide a suitable equivalent product or component.
Our Lifetime Warranty applies to the original purchaser and requires reasonable proof of purchase.
2. What “Lifetime” means
For the purposes of this warranty, “lifetime” means the expected useful life of the original furniture product, provided the product has been used, maintained and stored appropriately for its intended purpose.
This is not an unlimited or perpetual warranty and does not mean that every product or component is expected to remain in its original condition indefinitely.
Furniture is a working product and, particularly in education environments, will naturally show signs of use over time.
The Lifetime Warranty protects against defects in materials, manufacturing and workmanship. It does not cover ordinary deterioration, ageing or damage resulting from use.
3. Conditions of the Warranty
To remain covered by this Lifetime Warranty:
- Products must be used for their intended purpose and within their intended environment.
- Products must be assembled in accordance with LSG’s assembly instructions.
- Products must be properly maintained and cared for in accordance with LSG’s care and maintenance recommendations.
- Products must not have been modified, altered or repaired without LSG’s approval.
- Products must not have been subjected to misuse, abuse, negligence or unreasonable use.
- Products must not have been exposed to unsuitable environmental conditions.
- Reasonable care must be taken during transportation, relocation, storage and installation.
LSG may request photographs, information about the product and its use, or inspection of the product before determining the appropriate remedy.
4. What the Lifetime Warranty does not cover
The Lifetime Warranty does not cover:
Natural materials
Natural timber and timber products are inherently unique.
Variations in colour, grain, figure, texture, knots and other natural characteristics are not defects and are not covered by this warranty.
Natural materials may also change in appearance over time due to ageing, light and UV exposure. These changes are a natural characteristic of the material.
Normal wear and tear
The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, including scratches, dents, scuffs, surface wear, fading, discolouration or other deterioration that naturally occurs through normal use.
Environmental damage
The warranty does not cover damage resulting from:
- Excessive moisture or humidity;
- Water damage;
- Mould;
- Rust or corrosion;
- Prolonged exposure to sunlight or UV;
- Unsuitable temperatures;
- Outdoor exposure unless the product has specifically been designed for outdoor use; or
- Unsuitable storage or positioning.
Misuse or damage
The warranty does not cover damage resulting from:
- Misuse or abuse;
- Use for a purpose for which the product was not designed;
- Excessive loading;
- Incorrect assembly or installation;
- Incorrect relocation or handling;
- Vandalism;
- Accidents;
- Impact or other external damage; or
- Modification or alteration of the original product.
Cleaning and maintenance
Damage caused by harsh chemicals, solvents, abrasive cleaners, inappropriate cleaning products or failure to follow LSG’s care and maintenance recommendations is not covered.
Soft furnishings
Soft furnishings are excluded from the LSG Lifetime Furniture Warranty and are covered by a separate 2-Year Warranty, unless otherwise stated.
Soft furnishings include, but are not limited to:
- Sofas;
- Ottomans;
- Cushions;
- Squabs;
- Beanbags;
- Tablecloths;
- Waterproof protectors;
- Clothing;
- Seagrass baskets;
- Jute rugs;
- Bedding;
- Sleep mats; and
- Mattresses.
5. Finishes, fabrics and colour matching
Natural materials, coatings, laminates, fabrics and other surface finishes may change over time through normal use and exposure to light and the environment.
LSG does not warrant that replacement components will exactly match the colour, grain, texture, finish or appearance of the original product where the original material has naturally changed over time.
This includes natural timber, laminates, painted surfaces, powder coatings, fabrics and other materials where colour or appearance may vary between production batches.
6. Replacement products and components
Where a product or component is covered by this warranty and requires replacement, LSG may provide a current equivalent product or component where the original product or component is no longer available.
Replacement products and components may differ in design, colour, finish, dimensions or specification where the original product is no longer manufactured.
7. Making a Warranty Claim
To make a claim under the LSG Lifetime Furniture Warranty, please contact LSG with:
- Your name and contact details;
- Proof of purchase;
- The product name or description;
- The approximate date of purchase;
- A description of the issue; and
- Photographs or other information reasonably requested by LSG.
LSG will assess the claim and determine whether the issue is covered by this warranty.
Where a claim is accepted, LSG will work with the customer to determine the appropriate remedy.
8. New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act
Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available to consumers under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any other applicable law.
Where the Consumer Guarantees Act or other applicable law provides rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, those rights and remedies continue to apply.
